Planning for the Paleo Diet
If you are planning on following the paleo diet, it is important that you have a plan. The first step to making a diet plan is to write down what meals you plan to eat for the week. You can take a Paleo diet food list and use it to determine what recipes you want to try and then use that to determine what groceries you need to buy.
After writing down your weekly meal plan and grocery list, you simply need to make sure you are following the plan. Purchase some extra groceries in case you don’t feel like eating what you planned. Now that you have scheduled your diet, purchased your groceries and decided on some specific recipes, the easy part of planning is done. The difficult part of any diet plan is sticking to the plan! No amount of planning will overcome low willpower. There are a few things you can do that will maximize your opportunity for success.
1. Exercise – this will keep you motivated on choosing the right foods. I know that when I exercise my body craves healthy foods and I will feel like I wasted time if I follow up a good work out with something unhealthy, like cookies.
2. Sleep at least 6 hours per night. I find that I am more likely to cheat on my diet if I am tired or grumpy due to lack of sleep.
3. Look at yourself in the mirror. Don’t belittle yourself or insult yourself, but remind yourself of the problem areas that you are fighting. This can help motivate you and keep you on task when the going gets tough.
4. Get your family involved. Have them eat the same diet plan you are and ask them to offer encouraging reminders of how good you look and how well you are doing.
