Bristol is hosting another local arts festival on the weekend of the 23rd – 25th September, right in the heart of the city at the Lloyds Amphitheatre, Waterfront and Millenium Squares. Featuring hundreds of bands and DJs, a circus, street performers and a vast array of community and arts projects, this festival is community organised and volunteer run.
The Bristol Festival Community aims to provide local talent with great exposure and the visitors with an affordable festival for everyone (tickets from £8 per day to £16 for all three days). The logistics are impressive, thousands of volunteers help run the event, over 90 of them are on the year round organising committee, the influx of cash each year benefits many local venues and businesses (including hotels and serviced apartments in Bristol) and up and coming artists benefit from high profile promotion and exposure that they may never have had before.
The theme this year is “Lost in the Bermuda Triangle” and festival goers are encouraged to dress accordingly – let’s hope for an Indian Summer to go with it! There will be tropical bars, sunken ships at the harbourside and a life size Indian elephant to grace the scene, (to go with the Indian Summer!). Activities include:
The world’s best portable crazy golf course A 1920’s boat party aboard the Tower Belle Sunset cruise (Sunday evening) on board The Matthew Gryphon Tent with hardcore punk bands Late night silent rave (put on your headphones and dance to your own rhythm!) Mr Wolf’s stage will feature Mr Motivator’s work out, Million Way and Dub Mafia Interactive art installations Rave On Avon and much, much more…
Make the most of this event in 2011. Next year it moves to Ashton Court! Book your tickets today.
